Been super sick the past couple days but my bff and lovely lady Jen nursed me back to health. This was so helpful so I didn't have to cancel my speech at the HK city university conference that I've been preparing for the past 2 months. I spoke about building positive relationships with kids through listening, patience and fun. There was a boy in the audience who made his mom take his picture with me. She said that he couldn't stop raving about how much he loved my msg of creating an bridge between children and adults so we can all feel respected, appreciated and loved.
So exciting sharing my experiences working with children, sometimes I forget how much a part of my life they always will be with everything else going on. They're truly special and I'm grateful to have been reminded why. It was not only about that boy but all the parents, aunts/uncles and mentors who came and asked me questions to help build better families.
After preaching patience and understanding and listening with kids, I ended up losing patience with my lovely Jen. It was not fair, and it showed me how new this type of conflict is in our relationship. It also showed me how much I truly care for her to always want to work through it. Without her efforts, I would not be able to influence the people around me the way I do and she consistently brings so much light to my days.
I know I can remember this next time she directs us in the wrong way or makes a silly mistake. Our relationship is the most rewarding thing I get to be apart of and I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for her. Being able to take the lessons I shared about children and encorporating them to my personal life is the next step I'm taking to ensure I can be my best self in any moment. This will then positively influence my stage performances, personal, professional and self...Getting better everyday!
